Gary Cowen concentrates primarily in the area of real estate law. Gary represents a broad range of institutional and entrepreneurial clients in a variety of commercial real estate transactions, that includes landlords and tenants in the leasing of office, medical, retail, industrial and GSA space; buyers, sellers and lenders in their acquisition, disposition and development of office buildings, apartment buildings, shopping centers, industrial warehouses and raw land as well as navigating 1031 exchanges; a broad spectrum of real estate lending and borrowing entities; investors and developers negotiating power (and solar) purchase agreements in the renewable energy space; investors and developers raising equity for real estate ventures and opportunities; purchasers of performing and non-performing loans and distressed real estate; lenders and purchasers in advising and resolving real estate tax delinquencies and sales issues; clients in the review, preparation and negotiation of commercial contracts; companies in the creation, structuring and organization of ownership entities.

    • In 1992, Gary started the legendary Hoops the Gym, the nation’s first private basketball gymnasium and the summer practice facility for numerous professional All-Stars, players and coaches.

    • Since 2019, Mr. Cowen is an adjunct Professor in the Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate MBA program at Roosevelt University’s Walter E. Heller College of Business
